Who am I?

Hi, I’m Kathy McConville — Level 6 Registered Massage Therapist with Massage New Zealand and Sports Therapy Association.

I hold an ITEC Diploma in Sports Massage (Merit), a Diploma in Sport & Remedial Massage (Level 6), a Cert in Advanced Exercise Science & Management (Dist), and a Cert in Therapeutic Massage Therapy. With over 20 years of experience in the health, fitness, and sports performance industries, I bring both clinical knowledge and practical expertise to my clients.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with elite teams and professional athletes including NZ All Blacks, NZ Black Ferns, Australia Wallabies, South Africa Springboks, Super 12 Rugby teams, Wellington Lions, Women Pride Rugby, and Premier A-League Football players.

I’ve also supported individual endurance athletes preparing for major events such as Ironman New Zealand, Ironman World Championship, ITU World Championships, and London Marathon—helping optimise performance, aid recovery, and prevent overuse injuries.

My work goes well beyond the professional sports world. I’m passionate about supporting people from all walks of life, whether the goal is better movement, pain relief, or improved performance, my approach combines remedial or sports massage, exercise knowledge, and practical recovery strategies tailored to each individual.

Alongside my clinical practice, I’ve gained valuable sideline medic experience, working with Marist St Pats Women’s Premier Team, U18 St Pats College, and Wellington Samoa teams—providing strapping, sports massage, exercise prescription and on-field support.

What do I do?

I have been involved in sport and exercise as an athlete, trainer and coach for many years. As a keen triathlete I have competed in numerous events including Ironman NZ, Ironman 70.3, Samoa Beat the Heat, Ironmāori, the Rotorua Marathon and Triathlon UK.  I also represented New Zealand at the ITU World Championships Sprint Distance (AG).

I’m always looking for ways to grow and keep my skills sharp, so I regularly take part in workshops and advanced training.

“We have been receiving treatment from Kathy for a couple of years now and she is nothing short of amazing! I am a professional rugby player and therefore my body appreciates the massage therapy Kathy provides after a big week of training. I always leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Kathy has also helped my partner during his recovery from a bad neck injury and he is now back to his labour intensive work as a builder, We would highly recommend Kathy to anyone needing a massage therapist”.

Black Ferns Champion Squad 2017 and 2021 Rugby World Cup, Gold Medalist, Olympics 2024 Sevens Gold medalist).

“I first showed up on Kathy’s table with a wicked case of Achilles Tendinosis. Actually, the rest of me was also a bucket of rusty bolts: headaches, hot neck nerves, knotted back and calves. Too many races, long-haul flights, sleepless nights and never enough time for a massage. Kathy not only unwound me, but has shown me that regular therapeutic massage is an essential part of training, recovery and performance. To say nothing of busting stress and restoring sleep. And, yes it took six months of work but I am running again. Now I know not to stop Kathy’s massage again. Book her now!”

“I've had a number of massage therapists over the years and Kathy is definitely sitting at the top. Her professionalism, anatomy knowledge and her strength comes through in her work. I always walk away feeling the benefits from our sessions. Having played sport and competed in Triathlon herself this gives me confidence she understands me as an athlete and the importance of recovery. If you're looking for a sports massage therapist I would highly recommend Kathy."

“Kia Ora, as an Ironman competitor I am constantly pushing my body to the limit. I receive regular sports massages from Kathy and during 2019/20, she has played a big role in getting me to the start-line. Three months out of IMNZ 2020 I injured my hamstring tendon. Kathy was able to collaborate with my specialist, physio, and coach so that a robust rehabilitation plan was in place. Her approach, techniques and strapping my hamstring for race day got me to the start-line. Kathy is professional, discreet, and confident in her work which puts my mind at rest. I highly recommend Kathy.”

“KM Sports & Remedial Massage Therapy played a huge part in my second crack at Ironman NZ. Kathy really helped me to manage a lot of niggles during the buildup to race day and especially helped with a lower back problem that I struggled with for a long while. Even after the big race Kathy is my go-to when my body is feeling a little off. Thanks for all your help Kathy!”
